Chapter 4 - Dark Clouds are moving in
As he opened his eyes, he saw nothing, everything was empty, everything was white and misty like fog, when he suddenly saw a figure taking shape, whoever it was, was walking towards him, “Jack can you hear me?” he recognised the voice, “Okay what are you doing in my head? You may have saved me but that isn’t an excuse to come into my head Leggy!” “I need to talk to you Jack.” “Well if we are gonna talk, y’mind if we do it face to face and not in my head?” “Well seeing as your voice will not be working for another few days or so, I think it’d be more than adequate to be talking here, and also... We can have some privacy.” and with those words he felt his legs go weak and all the blood and heat rush to his head, the figures features started to come into focus, the dark brown hair, the kind face, everything was the same about her, he looked away from her and said “What did you want to talk about, 'cause I wanna get this over with and no offence but I want you, out of my head, this is one of the last places where I feel .... safe.” “No need to worry, I simply want to speak to you and go.” “At least we’re agreed on that, so let's stop with the idle talk and start on what you need to talk about.” With that the heat started to fade from his face and he felt like he could look at her again, he turned his head towards her, took one look at her face and felt all the blood and heat rush to his head again, he spoke again in an unsure and stiff voice “So uh, what did you want to um uh say, 'cause I uh, yeah...” She looked at him confused and he could see her cheeks turning red as well, “After discussing with the elder council, I managed to make them agree with letting you stay in the forest, but you have to stay under constant watch” she said in a flustered tone, he suddenly felt all the heat and blood come crashing back to the rest of his body and he yelled “So I’m not gunna be able to even go to the bathroom without someone being there or what? And also, of what concern am I to you?” she looked at him with an unsure look in her eye, “I can’t answer those questions myself, but when you wake up I’ll take you to someone who can.” “And how longs that gonna take?” “Roughly another three days.” and with that his mouth just sagged, he thought to himself in an exasperated tone ”How much longer am I gonna be like this....” “And also” she added “once I take you to that person, I will have to ask you something.” “And there’s no use in asking if I can get an answer now is there?” “None at all.” a tense silence fell between them “Is there anything else you wanted to discuss?” there was a slight pause before she spoke again, “Well... When i was treating your wounds, you were becoming mentally unstable...” “Are you calling me a nutter?” “No, no not at all, it’s just, I had to step into your mind to help mend what was wrong and I couldn’t help but....see things”

He looked away from her again. “Did you.......did you see what I saw?” “Yes” she replied bluntly, “I saw everything, and what you saw has made deep scars in your heart and I want to-“ “GET OUT, GET OUT NOW” he shouted angrily at her “WHAT YOU SAW WAS PRIVATE, YOU HAD NO RIGHT TO SEE IT, GET OUT, GET OUT NOW!” his temper was rising and the fog that surrounded them was slowly turning darker, a mighty gust blew past him and she threw her arms up in front of her face to protect herself, the wind was battering her, blowing her hair wildly around her head, when suddenly the fog was turning white again and the wind suddenly stopped blowing. All of his anger was gone and it was all replaced by shock, his eyes widened at what he saw and he felt his heart start to beat faster. She had pointed ears. She suddenly turned around and walked into the fog and disappeared “WAIT!” he shouted after her “YOU NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT YOU BEING AN ELF!” |
He was alone again, he was trapped in his own head, all he could do was think about what just happened, so he sat down and pulled his knees up to his chest, An elf, I fell for an ELF! he thought to himself, How could I be so stupid, and I yelled at her! How could I have been so stupid, not to mention she saved my life, but then again, her seeing what’s private give’s me the right to get angry, she shouldn’t have been watching, but I shouldn’t have yelled, but still, and why did she have to hide the fact she’s an elf? I just need to hurry and wake the hell up.
She woke up a jump, He’s right, I shouldn’t have seen what was private. she lifted a hand to her ear and felt the pointed tip, I should have told him from the beginning, once he wakes up he’s going to want to know why I saved him and why I didn’t tell him, her thoughts then settled on what the druid would say if she was right about Jack and what would happen if she was wrong, I better speak to the elders and ask about where I’m going to meet him, not to mention the battle plans against the orcs, she sighed heavily, I know we can’t beat them alone but with if we have Jack and the power of the dwarfs we should be fine, but....if I’m wrong, then we are doomed, a feeling of despair washed over her “Miss Leggy?” “Yes Ryman?” she looked at the door expectantly and Ryman walked in “I know that your morale is low, but please, even if he is not the one, the dwarfs battle platoon has just arrived we can win if we use the forest to our advantage, the trees have already slain many or the orcs' scouts and teams.” “Yes Ryman, but in retaliation they have started to cut and burn the forest down, all we can do now is wait and see if this human really is the one who can save us, now please Ryman I wish to be alone, tell the dwarfs I am busy and I welcome them to our home, once they have had their fill of food and mead to rest, tell the same to our troops.” “Please, could you not tell them in person, you were the one to invite them, I think that it may insult them that the princess of the forest elves would not come to greet them...” “Ryman, do as I said or you will not have permission to leave and go zombie hunting next time you wish.” A look of shock suddenly appeared on his face “Y-y-yes ma’am!” he ran from the room and closed the door behind him, she shook her head and smiled slightly, It is all finally happening, I just hope that I’m right.
